Cardigan - pocket

Because I walk with elbow crutches, all my cardigans have large internal poachers pockets. This one is being worked from the top down. The broad ribbing will stop things falling out if I am lying down. To avoid bulk I am using 3 strands of the yarn only - the cardigan uses 6 strands.

Cardigan collar

This is the garter stitch collar. As you can see I always make a little thread loop for everyday cardigans. If they slip onto the floor I cannot pick them up!

Cardigan - bands finished

Both the fronts are now finished. Here are the button and buttonhole bands.

Cowl finished

I am so pleased with this Jane Sowerby pattern. It was a quick and easy knit and is a lovely soft, light item.

Sunny again

Sunny is not a lap cat but she does like to keep me company.

Warm hat

I whipped up this worsted weight hat in a day. The pattern is a two-colour linen stitch and has the advantage of being reversible. Both sides are equally attractive.

Cardigan - adding the button band

I really like this method of adding a front band as the result doesn't curl but lies really flat. And I have finally achieved a photo that shows the real yellow colour!

Here is the first front finished and attached at the shoulder by a 3 needle cast-off.

Bedding

Sunny absolutely refuses to set paw on the bed. I presume this was forbidden in her baby home. But she loves to get under the duvet.

Cardigan - front started

I have started the front. You can see the stitches for the front band on a safety pin for later.

Cardigan - back finished

I finished the back of the cardigan. It is a much brighter yellow than the photo suggests and catches the light nicely because of the high silk content.

Hat modification

I made this hat a little while ago, but found, when I wore it, that it didn't stay on very well as there was no ribbing and the yarn I used doesn't have much memory. So I added a ribbed band - now it stays on just fine!

Apology for disappearing!

Sorry to vanish for a bit! I had to have unexpected surgery on Monday and things have been a bit rough since. But this was what I saw from my window at 9am this morning so I just had to share!



Snow

It snowed heavily overnight so this is what we got up to this morning. It took my husband two hours to get home from work last night (it usually takes about 25 minutes). Here's hoping it doesn't take him equally long to get to work this morning!



Lace cowl

I am a big fan of Jane Sowerby's patterns so I am having fun knitting 'A light lacey cowl' by her from The Knitter issue 41. The yarn is a 50/50 merino/silk laceweight in a pretty daffodil yellow. The pattern is a very easy one and will be very pretty.
