Cardigan

This is one of the many cardigans I have knitted from Marie Dendrow's patterns. Her patterns use a tighter than usual guage for extra warmth - and this has the advantage of making them very hard-wearing. They also have long sleeves with tight cuffs and high necks with substantial collars. And they are interesting to knit. This one has a slip stitch pattern of vertical lines.

These days I make all of my own buttons from Fimo, and these are some I made. I find them very hard wearing and they stand washing very well. And of course it makes it much easier to achieve the perfect button for a specific project. The only things I would say to anyone trying to make their own buttons - they are so small that they bake VERY quickly so watch them like a hawk in the oven. Also, make the buttonholes bigger than you could possibly want - they shrink in the oven!

  1. Very pretty cardigan, I am in awe of your showcase of skills. I loved the buttons before I read you had made them. Fantastic :)
